Understanding Your Home's Sewer Connection

If you're a property owner, it's important to understand the sewer system in your home or business. When that system includes lines or pipes that connect to a municipal sewer system, West Coast CIPP is here to help. We provide a variety of beneficial services that help you maintain the sewer system on property you already own and make informed decisions about property you're considering buying.

We provide storm water runoff for municipal areas and 8-60 inch pipe inspections. We also do storm water work in addition to sewer work. For your free estimate on any of our sewer services, please call us.

Sewer Scope/Drain Camera Inspections

In most cases, the sewer line attached to a building is as old as the building itself. Like the building, the line occasionally needs to be inspected to ensure that it's functioning properly. A sewer problem can cause a backup into your home or flooding in your yard, so fixing a problem before it gets worse is a good idea.

You can count on West Coast CIPP for high-tech sewer scope/drain camera inspections. During the inspection, we send a specialized high-definition camera into your sewer line through a cleanout or other access. The camera helps us detect and precisely locate any causes for concern.

  • Root intrusion
  • Pooling
  • Holes
  • Cracks
  • Pipe separation
  • Water infiltration
  • Obstructions

A sewer scope inspection takes around an hour to complete and is a standard component in pre-purchase inspections. Our services include everything you need to know to plan your next step wisely.
Information about the condition of the line

  • A video of the inspection
  • A final statement report
  • Ground markings indicating any problem areas
  • Information about the location and depth of the problem(s)
  • A free estimate on repairing the problem(s)

If you need a sewer line inspection on your property or a property you're considering buying, please call for your free estimate. Calling a few days before the day you want the inspection is preferred. Someone with access to the property (and the sewer cleanout) will need to meet our inspection technician.

Sewer Line Repair and Replacement

If your sewer line needs to be repaired or replaced, West Coast CIPP is ready to handle the job. We perform trench excavation and trenchless repairs, and the right solution for your line depends on the condition of the pipe and the severity of the problem(s).

  • Trench excavation — When the entire line needs to be replaced, we'll excavate the existing line and put in new a pipe. This is the traditional means to repair a sewer line that is less than 100 feet long, has minimal grade, and is beneath few or no landscaping obstacles.
  • Trenchless repair — We can also use cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technologies to repair the line without excavating it. Trenchless repair is a more cost-effective solution when excavation would cut through landscaping obstacles (driveways, walls, mature trees, utilities, or structures). Trenchless repairs can be performed with only one or two holes in the line and with minimal disturbance of the landscape.

Sewer Line FAQ

  • What part of a sewer line is the homeowner's responsibility?

Each municipality has slightly different responsibilities for the homeowner. Responsibilities such as only being responsible to the right of way, or responsible all the way to the sewer main in the street.

  • What is a party-line sewer?

A party-line sewer is a connection to the city sewer that is shared by multiple homes. A problem in one line may require that all homes connected to the line would be responsible for the replacement or the repair.

Party-line sewers are more common in older municipalities. Some municipalities have banned the new construction of party services.

  • What type of material is my sewer line made of?

Pipes are typically made out of PVC, clay, cast iron, or concrete, depending on when the pipe was first installed.

Sewer and Drain Cleaning

A clog or obstruction in a sewer line can lead to a backup into your home or a flood in your yard. Since the material is sewage, the damage can be significant and the cleanup can be hazardous. You can rely on West Coast CIPP for comprehensive sewer line, main line, and drain cleaning.

Using our pipe inspection, we can precisely locate the clog, tree roots, or obstruction. Once we've identified it, we are fully equipped and certified to clear it.

Please call us if you experience any of the signs of an obstructed line. It's better to take action early than to have to face a larger mess.

  • Gurgling noises in your drains or toilet
  • Water backing up or flooding
  • Sewer odor or sewage backup
